Middle school quizbowl in Southern California is an active and competitive circuit, making it a great environment for schools looking to start new teams. Like many high school tournaments, middle school tournaments in Southern California operate under the rules and question sets of National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT).
For the 2018 – 2019 school year, we plan to organize three middle school tournaments.
The tournament coordinator for the middle school circuit in Southern California is Bob Stout, the quizbowl coach at Madison High School. Teams interested in hosting or attending a tournament should contact him at bstout AT sandi DOT net.
Teams that finish in the top 15% of the overall field at a tournament qualify for the MSNCT. Teams that fail to qualify can apply for wildcard bids, in which NAQT will individually consider a team’s ability and may offer that team a spot at the MSNCT. MSNCT qualifying tournaments are notated on the schedule with an asterisk (*).
